PA GOP Establishment to Rally for Romney

Later today in Harrisburg, several GOP politicos will endorse Mitt Romney over former Pa. Senator Rick Santorum. PoliticsPA will be on the scene covering the event, but here’s a quick look at who will be backing the former Massachusetts Governor.

Politico has list of some of the heavy hitters:

Congressmen Bill Shuster and Charlie Dent will endorse Romney at a surrogate press conference this afternoon in Harrisburg, the capital of Rick Santorum’s home state.

They and other speakers will discuss their support for Romney and, in the words of a Romney campaign official, “stress the futility of Santorum’s challenge given his overwhelming delegate deficit.”

Also appearing at the 2 p.m. event will be Rep. Jim Gerlach, former Congressman Phil English, former Chairman of the Republican State Committee Alan Novak, RNC National Committeeman Bob Asher, Allegheny County GOP Chair Jim Roddey, Delaware County GOP Chair Andy Reilly, Franklin County GOP Chair Dwight Weidman and Independence Hall Tea Party (Philadelphia) leader Don Adams.

Several of the names, including Gerlach, Asher and Roddey, had already announced their support for Romney. Dent and Shuster are new.

And Salena Zito of the Tribune Review also previewed the event.
