PA GOP: Tim Holden Throws Mud, Fails To Address His Failed Leadership
HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Spokesman Mike Barley released the following statement in reaction to Congressman Tim Holden’s negative television ad campaign:
“Tim Holden’s negative campaign proves what we thought all along: he knows that his seat is not safe and he does not have the ability to defend his liberal record,” Barley said. “In Washington, D.C., Holden voted for the stimulus bill, is currently considering supporting a tax increase on Pennsylvania job creators, continues to vote to support Nancy Pelosi for Speaker and votes for her liberal agenda 95.5% of the time.
“At home, Tim Holden has ignored the problems going on in Harrisburg, the largest city in the 17th Congressional District. While national and local news agencies continue to break stories about the financial trouble the city of Harrisburg currently finds itself in, Congressman Tim Holden has remained absent from the debate. In fact, the closest thing he has done to getting involved with the plagued city’s matters was hosting Mayor Linda Thompson at President Obama’s State-of-the-Union address in January. Was this Tim Holden’s way of congratulating Mayor Thompson for a job well-done?
“I think the people of the 17th Congressional District have seen what you get from Tim Holden – another tax-and-spend liberal who votes for Nancy Pelosi as the Speaker of the House and who supports Mayor Linda Thompson’s failed leadership in Harrisburg while falsely masking himself as a ‘conservative.’ Tim Holden’s first vote in Congress will be for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker! Don’t believe me, ask him! A vote for Holden is a vote for Pelosi and nearly 100% of her failed agenda.”
According to an article in The Patriot News, Congressman Tim Holden invited Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson to President Barack Obama’s State-of-the-Union address in January. In Washington, D.C., Tim Holden has voted for the stimulus and supports Nancy Pelosi’s extreme liberal agenda 95.5% of the time.
