PA-Gov: Corbett Launches New Ad, “Open” (Watch here)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3kRJjiT6x8

Governor Tom Corbett released his second ad of the week, this one entitled “Open.”

It’s the second 60 second spot that will run in a small cable buy this week. The ad will run on statewide cable for the next week. Because Corbett’s camp did not purchase a broadcast timeslot, the bill for the ad only totaled $109,000. In addition, the governor’s ad will only air on Fox News in the Altoona and Scranton area.

The format of the ad is very similar to the last, with Corbett talking to citizens in casual attire about the successes of his first term in office.

“I campaigned in 2010 and I made a promise, a very simple promise. Less taxes, more jobs. And I’ve kept this promise,” he says.

He catalogs the growth in jobs and people who are now employed, comparing the size to that of popular sporting arenas in the state.

The ad finishes with the eponymous word.

“Around the country, the word is getting out,” Corbett says. “Pennsylvania is once again open for business.”

It’s another ad that appeals to a general election, as he faces no serious competition in the primary. Conservative activist Bob Guzzardi is launching a challenge, but it’s probable that Corbett will be the Republican nominee.

On the Democratic side of the race, now eight candidates have lined up to face Corbett in the fall: former Auditor General Jack Wagner, Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-Montgomery), State Treasurer Rob McCord, former Revenue Secretary Tom Wolf, former DEP Secretaries Katie McGinty and John Hanger, minister Max Myers and Lebanon County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz.

  1. Well, whatever Senator Ward is doing must being working well for her “Kim Loves Tom,” because you guys couldn’t even manage to put up a token challenger against her in her last election… a mere 15 months ago.

  2. Look at Gov Corbett’s little handmaiden Sen Kimmy Ward sitting in the phony “Town Hall” audience staring dreamily at Tom… She will do anything for her man!!!

  3. So Ryan gets a post as head of the gaming board, sweet!!!! Tomalis stays on the State payroll as a consultant for what? Acting Governor Brabender and Tom Corbett, when you are pimping for national money at the RGA be sure to share Mr. Bumsted’s article; http://trib.me/1faGYe5
HARRISBURG Whatever you wanted to believe was reflected in the set of facts surrounding the dramatic revision of the Pennsylvania attorney general’s email retention policy …

  4. So acting Governor John Brabender has Tom Corbett pimping for him at the RGA trying to free up some of that national money. Our DARK PRINCE must be having a difficult time fleecing the Pennsylvania rubes that usually contribute to his campaigns. Must need some of that National money to make sure we Pennnsylvanians get the government we deserve and that Brabender gets the addition to his Loundon County Horse Farm. http://www.politico.com/story/2014/02/tom-corbett-pennsylvania-reelection-103832.html

  5. Poll-tested, voter approved ads, narrated by the candidate.
Tough to counter with scary voiceovers.
There’s always the wedge issues, I guess.
Corbett’s playing chess and shoving checkers down his opponents’ throats.

  6. Sr. Ferrari of Casablancapa.com posted gain today. This courageous sage recommended SILENT NO MORE, by Victime #1: How long does it take the most sophisticated law enforcement agency in the sixth-largest state in the nation to track down a single victim of a prolific serial rapist who preyed upon a concentrated population of children and even included some of their identities in his own autobiography?

    We may never know.
