Tom Corbett will kick off election year with $7.5 million cash on hand, his campaign announced Thursday. He raised $6.8 million in 2013.

It total, the Governor raised $12.3 million since he took office in 2011.

“We are building a winning campaign using the latest technology and an expansive grassroots network to highlight Governor Corbett’s accomplishments that are growing our economy and creating jobs,” campaign manager Mike Barley said in a statement.

“Governor Corbett is thankful for the countless supporters of his campaign who recognize his ‘More Jobs, Less Taxes’ agenda is delivering real results and that he keeps the promises he makes to his constituents.  We must re-elect Governor Corbett and Lt. Governor Cawley so we can ensure Pennsylvania’s best days are just ahead.”

Corbett did better last year than the equivalent time in the 2010 cycle. He raised $4.2 million in 2009. The full 2013 campaign finance report is not due to be filed until Jan. 31.

Corbett leads all of his Democratic opponents with the exception of Tom Wolf. The former Department of Revenue Secretary brought in $12.9 million in 2013; $10 million of that came from Wolf personally.

Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz and Treasurer Rob McCord raised $6.5 million and $6.6 million respectively. Schwartz carried over $3 million from her previous campaigns. McCord carried over $1.3 million and donated $1.7 million of his own money to his coffers.

Former DEP Secretary Katie McGinty has yet to released her fundraising numbers but they are rumored to be in the $2 million to 2.5 million range.

Unlike the Dems, Corbett does not face the prospect of an expensive primary and will be able to hold onto his resources for the fall.

  2. Tom Corbett Team: Maybe Rob Gleason will come back with the RNC meeting with some new fund-raising ideas. How about getting Governor Mike Huckabee to a fund-raiser for Tom in MONTCO. Huckabee can speak to PAGOP SEPA Cavemen and Cavegirls about Uncle Sugar and female libido. My God, I understand PAGOP SEPA Cavegirls just wish Uncle Sugar would come up with a pill to curb the PAGOP SEPA Cavemen’s libido. I am just trying to come up with some creative ways to help. http://www.politico.com/story/2014/01/mike-huckabee-democrats-women-102519.html

  3. Can anyone give me the current strike price on a FULL ZOGBY in a Corbett Second Term: A budget Secretary and a shadow Ed Secretary owned by a well-funded special interest group? I am willing to wash some funds through the RGA, too. Can we have more transparency on the pricing of cabinet positions please?

  4. $12.3 million raised.
    $7.5 million on hand

    $4.8 million spent
    39% burn rate

    What’s he spending it on?

  5. These are really embarrassing numbers for an incumbent Governor of Pennsylvania.

And to underline the previous point – what did he spend it on?

A bunch of young blowhards to fill in the comments of the state’s papers? Pricey out-of-state consultants that brought in campaign cash for his first Gov run and now he’s ‘paying’ them back?

    Jeez

  6. “We are building a winning campaign using the latest technology….”… and a losing message.

If he raised $12.3 million and has $7.5 million on hand, that means he spent $4.8 million PLUS whatever he had on hand before.

What did he spend it on? It’s not like we’ve seen the airwaves flooded with Corbett ads.

  7. For an incumbent governor, who knew he was going to have a tough race and had the entire year to fundraise…this isn’t a really strong showing. It underscores how vulnerable he is and how big an opportunity this is for the Democrats.
