Democratic nominee Tom Wolf maintains a solid lead in the last Franklin & Marshall poll before Election Day.
Among likely voters, Wolf receives 53% against incumbent Republican Governor Tom Corbett who finished with 40%.
With registered voters, the Democrat’s lead expands to eighteen points, 50% to 32%.
An explanation for these results can be seen in the fact that 61% of respondents believe the commonwealth is “off on the wrong track.”
Additionally, just 34% believe Gov. Corbett has done well enough to deserve re-election. Only 30% think the Governor is doing an “excellent” or “good” job.
The silver lining for Corbett is that his numbers have improved greatly over the last few months, due to Republicans coming back home to support their nominee. For instance, his job approval among the GOP jumped from 39% to 56% since August. He also saw his re-election support increase with Republicans from 46% to 63% over this time.
Still, Wolf only fell one point from Franklin & Marshall’s September poll.
A quarter of respondents, 25%, said that education is the most important issue for them in this election. Unemployment came in second with 20%.
Finally, regardless of who they support, 60% of voters believe Tom Wolf will win the election.
This survey reflects interviews with 738 Pennsylvania registered voters conducted by the Center for Opinion Research at Franklin & Marshall College from October 20-26, 2014. The margin of error is +/- 3.4%.

The power does not go away on election day. Acting Governor Brabender and his minions have many months to secure lucrative no bid contracts for themselves and their clients.
Voter turnout will be rather low in Philly. I see a 7-9 point victory for Wolf. Corbett’s biggest downfall is his inability to reach the 85-90% threshold needed among his own party.
WAS GUZZARDI RIGHT; WOULD HE HAVE BEEN A BETTER PAGOP CANDIDATE THAN CORBETT/BRABENDER? THE ANSWER IS YES! A GUZZARDI RUN WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR LESS DAMAGING TO THE PRODUCTIVE PA ECONOMY THAN THE FRAUDULENT CORBETT CAMPAIGN WHICH WAS NEVER ABOUT VICTORY! WHEN ARE THE JOURNOS WHO PUT ON BIG BOY PANTS GOING TO FULLY SPOTLIGHT THE MORAL BANKRUPTCY OF THE PAGOP?
IT’S BERLIN 1945 ON THE SUSQUEHANNA AND JO GOEBBELS WORRIED ABOUT TURNOUT TOO! JUST LIKE CORBETTWORLD! AS FRONTMAN CORBETT SAID LAST WEEK: “WE HAVE THEM RIGHT WHERE WE WANT THEM!” http://youtu.be/V2G72hpcWWs
