PA-Gov: McGinty Release New Web Video (Watch)

Former DEP Secretary and gubernatorial candidate Katie McGinty invites viewers into a tour of her childhood home in her latest web video.

“It’s been more than 15 years since I’ve been in this house, and it’s just warmed my house to walk back in that door,” she says, as she walks through the home with the new family that lives there, accompanied by one of her sisters.

Her six brothers shared a room in the attic, she and her two sisters shared another bedroom that the viewer can see as the matron of the new family takes her on a tour.

mcginty web vid houseFor most of the 98 second video, McGinty talks about her childhood memories and growing up in a large middle-class family.

“Growing up in that house, crowded as it was, we never wanted for anything because middle class families could get ahead. That’s no longer the case for too many hardworking families, which is why I am running for governor,” McGinty said.

McGinty’s campaign has focused heavily on middle-class issues; she was one of the first candidates to call for an increase in the minimum wage and has addressed an increase in the tipped minimum wage.

She faces a jam-packed Democratic field for the gubernatorial nomination including former Auditor General Jack Wagner, former Revenue Secretary Tom Wolf, Rep. Allyson Schwartz, State Treasurer Rob McCord, fellow past-DEP Secretary John Hanger and Lebanon County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz.

  1. This is not a good ad. So you had to share the bathroom with a bunch of siblings when you were growing up? That’s not really a compelling reason to vote for you.

  2. @Justin I’d be willing to bet she does better than Congresswoman Schwartz. Her ads have a great broad based appeal over a wide demographic who vote en masse. She’s got great credentials. Her fiancé reports are loaded with top Clinton Administration Officials including Cabinet Secretaries. She’s already scored Al Gore’s endorsement. If she scores the Big Guy himself, she’s going to contend big time. She’s a great speaker and engaging one on one. And I don’t even support her. I’m backing Tom Wolf! But if he were to get out of the race. I’d back McGinty in a heartbeat.

  3. Her candidacy is becoming more and more of a joke everyday. She would be a good DEP Secretary but not governor. If I were her I would concider running for State Senate in her district.
