PA-Gov: Wolf Hits Corbett with Double Dose of Negative Ads (VIDEOS)

Tom Wolf’s campaign is delivering a double-barreled blast to Governor Corbett’s economic record.

The Wolf camp is simultaneously releasing two new TV ads that criticize the Governor’s performance during his first term.

The first thirty-second spot is titled “Even worse”, and uses news footage to make the case to voters that the commonwealth’s economy isn’t getting any better.

“Over the past four years, Pennsylvania has gone from 9th to 47th in job creation,” a female narrator states, “and now news about our economy is getting even worse.”

The ad concludes with the tagline “Tom Corbett: Why should we give him four more years?”

The second commercial, titled “Three Days”, chronicles the rough economic news the Keystone State received in September.

“With Tom Corbett things keep getting worse,” the male narrator says. “September 16th: Budget deficits force Pennsylvania to borrow $1.5 billion just to keep the lights on.”

“Three days later, Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate goes up for the second straight month,” he continues. “Under Tom Corbett, we’ve fallen from 9th to 47th in job creation. And on September 25th, Pennsylvania’s credit is downgraded for the fifth time in two years.”

The narrator finishes with virtually the same tagline from the previous spot.

“Why would we give Tom Corbett four more years?” he asks.

  1. He is not hilarious. He is a serious political observer who is trying to teach us about PA politics and how it works.

  3. Corbett raised my taxes after he signed Grover Norquist’s promise to NOT RAISE TAXES. Gas taxes in PA are 4th highest in the nation thanks to Corbett’s 29 cent per gallon increase.

  4. Look on the bright side, we can always scrape the gold leaf off the capital rotunda if we are in need of emergency cash, I hear the gold is up!

  5. basil, goevenor corbit aint gonna be a former guv. until for yrs from now cuz he gonna win a 2nd term as guv next month and he ntitled to a 2nd term as guv cuz that how it work in penna,

  6. Julie, Corbett and his republican legislature DID raise your taxes – a whopping 29-cent per-gallon gasoline tax that hits EVERY driver. They were just dishonest enough to hide it untila fter election day. The Big Oil Frackers, meanwhile, don’t have to pay a dime to suck out all our resources. Do you like being the ONLY gas-producing state that doesn’t have a severance tax? And don’t confuse raising taxes on the wealthy – who are getting a free ride and who made out like bandits during the non-recovery recovery – with raising taxes on working men and women. If you make under $70,000 – like most of us – your taxes won’t go up. Well, except for Corbett’s Sneaky Gasoline Tax…

  7. Julie A. – Corbett’s only interested in keeping down his own taxes and those of his rich donors, while letting education, bridge-repair and other critical services remain underfunded.

  8. “What does a man who came from a wealthy family and went to Ivy league schools know about the middle class?”-JA

Ah…. maybe because Wolf hired hundreds of em.

Who did former Governor Corbet every hire that wasn’t self-serving or didn’t have a sliver spoon, or both.

  9. Tom Wolf promises to raise your taxes. What does a man who came from a wealthy family and went to Ivy league schools know about the middle class?

Tom Corbett is working hard to keep his promises and to not raise taxes. My vote is for the guy that truly has my best interest in mind when making desisions. Tom Corbett for Governor!
