While none of the Lt. Gov. candidates are yet on the air, Mark Smith became the first to reserve his ad space for later in the race.
He’s spending about $160,000 over three markets: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Smith is releasing two 15-second ads that are cut from a longer biographical video he posted last February.
In the first commercial, the candidate provides some of his personal background.
“I grew up in a trailer, raised by a single dad,” he begins. “The safety nets for working families are vital and I’ll protect them. Governor Corbett, we lead by picking people up not leaving them behind.”
“I’m Mark Smith and I’m on your side,” he concludes.
The second spot focuses on Smith’s tenure as Bradford County Commissioner.
“As a commissioner I’ve brought people together, to balance budgets and help create jobs,” Smith asserts. “That’s what I’ll do as Lieutenant Governor.”
According to the Smith campaign, “the media reservations are substantial and are made in markets across the state.”
Other Democratic candidates for Lieutenant Governor include former Rep. Mark Critz, State Rep. Brandon Neuman, Harrisburg City Councilman Brad Koplinski and State Sen. Mike Stack.

Is this representative of an ad buy that’s actually airing now? Or is this basically a video press release?
Go Mark!
