Senate Democratic nominee Katie McGinty is up with two new TV ads.

The first thirty-second spot, titled “Diner”, features the candidate talking about her parents.

“My mom was a restaurant hostess at a neighborhood favorite,” she states. “A place for a good family meal. She juggled customers, cooks, waitresses, and never complained. My dad was a police officer walking his beat. I learned from both what it means to be honest, to work hard, and love family.”

The idea being that her background means she’ll fight for people like her in the Senate.

“Big banks, Wall Street, special interests – that’s who Pat Toomey’s with,” she asserts. “In the Senate, I’ll work for you and your family.”

The second commercial, titled “Pay Equity”, focuses on gendered income inequality.
“She works hard. She stays late. But she gets paid 21% less than her male coworkers,” McGinty narrates once again. “Pat Toomey has voted time after time against equal pay for women. Against pay that helps hardworking families get ahead.”

“For my daughters and yours, I’ll fight for equal pay for women,” she concludes. “Families need it, you’ve earned it.”

  1. I feel bad for whoever the director of these commercials is. Trying to make a Main Line stuffed shirt who can’t deliver a line that doesn’t look scripted has got to be a really hard job. They’re trying to make her relatable but when she talks about blue collar roots it’s like she’s picking something nasty off her shoe.

  2. I like ke PA Grandparent better. One Term Garden Gnome is the most clever nickname I’ve seen in a while.

  3. Toomey is a do-nothing garden-gnome. He does not respect women and gets an A+ from the NRA. He has accomplished nothing in six years. Can’t think of one reason to give him another six.
