PA-Sen: McGinty Welcomes Bernie’s Help

Sanders-021507-18335- 0004It’s one of the largest unknowns of this election season.

Just how involved will Bernie Sanders be in down ballot races for Democratic candidates.

According to Seung Min Kim of Politico, a number of Democratic nominees would welcome Sanders with open arms. Among them is Katie McGinty.

“[This is] not something we’ve talked about or planned yet, but she’d absolutely campaign with him,” McGinty Communications Director Sean Coit told Politico.

Sanders support would be particularly helpful considering that a debate has emerged over which candidate is really closest to Wall Street. Campaigning with the man who pledged to break up the big banks would certainly settle that argument.

One big question, though, is whether Sen. Sanders will deign to pitch in for McGinty. As Kim notes, Sanders so far has only stumped with former Wisconsin Senator and noted progressive Russ Feingold. In the past, he’s even been reluctant to support those that stuck out their necks and endorsed him in the primary.

It’s possible Bernie doesn’t believe McGinty deserves his support.

You realize therefore significantly on the subject of this subject, produced me for my part consider it from a lot of varied angles. 2. Bernie!!! Hey, come on down and do this.

I know McGinty is in deep with Clinton’s establishment, and that’s not entirely the best. And I know the new farm system needs attention. But Toomey is a problem in PA, electrification plus the Trump effect will handle it (it would have a HUGE effect!!) and you’d be doing a lot of liberals esp. in PA a solids. Embrace her, raise her arm up, or just find a way to get the consensus emphasis across.

    Stay thirsty.

  3. David – I totally agree. It’s time to link Toomey with Trump. Her campaign was probably waiting til Trump made a complete idiot of himself. And now he will go dark for a while.

Strike now, Katie. Force the garden gnome to make a decision.

  4. Or how about just supporting candidate that would vote for Supreme Court judges that believe in women’s right to choose?

Not everything has to be about the corporate power structure.

  5. Katie: we in The Revolution would love to help!

OurRevolution.com will enthusiastically back anti-fracking candidates nationwide, and so will BrandNewCongress.org.

Our candidates first and foremost admit that BOTH MAJOR PARTIES OF our existing #BrokenSystem is corrupted by corporate for-profit money. Our candidates, therefore, eschew it and speak critically and often against its greedy sources, who are currently ruining both our democratic republic and our planet for our children.

Check us out. Maybe you could fit.

  6. I think McGinty should put out ads directly saying that Toomey supports/endorses Trump and let Toomey spend time/money/effort denying it.

Toomey certainly supports/endorses Trumps plans, supreme court picks, etc.

That’s close enough for a claim in a political ad.

  7. Amen Pat.

Toomey is trying to have his cake and eat it too. He wants the Trumpanzees on his side while he takes the high road on their Orange Ape Lord.

  8. Bernie won’t do it absent a promise of a leadership role in the Dem caucus. She is a pro-fracking activist who worked for Wall Street while in office. Let Hillary try to drag her across the finish line…

  9. Why? All this says is, “Help, I need help!” Do it on your own Katie. Do something for the first time in your life on your own, not by the help of someone else.

  10. This will be huge in Philly. And wherever there are smart people in PA.

When is Toomey announcing his support for Trump? In the alternative – when is he going to denounce Trump? Or – is he planning to do nothing on that front like he has done nothing as a Senator?
