PA-Sen: Philly Firefighters Endorse Toomey

Pat-ToomeyContrary to popular belief, labor unions don’t always support Democratic candidates.

Case in point, GOP Senator Pat Toomey has won the endorsement of the Philadelphia Fire Fighters’ and Paramedics Union Local 22.

“The members of the Philadelphia Fire Fighters’ and Paramedics Union Local 22 proudly endorse Senator Pat Toomey for re-election to the U.S. Senate,” said Local 22 President Andy Thomas.  “Pat is a common-sense, bipartisan leader who knows and respects the sacrifice that our members make every day to protect those who live and work in Philadelphia. We know that Pat has our back in Washington.”

“I am honored and grateful to have the support of the hardworking men and women of the Fire Fighters’ and Paramedics Union Local 22 in Philadelphia,” said Senator Toomey. “These courageous emergency responders put their lives on the line every day to ensure the safety of the people of Philadelphia. I am proud to be their voice in Washington.”

The local represents 4,500 current and retired officers of the Philadelphia Fire Department. Last week, they endorsed Democratic candidate for Attorney General Stephen Zappala.

Sen. Toomey is running against three potential Democratic opponents: Braddock Mayor John Fetterman, former Chief of Staff to Gov. Wolf Katie McGinty and former Congressman Joe Sestak.

  1. Yep. Follow the money. First the Zappala mob money, then the lily white checks from the RNC. Time to celebrate. Hop on the trucks and we’ll all go down South Broad for donuts.
