PA-Sen: Toomey Focuses on Sanctuary Cities in Weekly GOP Address (VIDEO)

Senator Toomey clearly thinks he knows what issue will help him win re-election. In the weekly Republican address, Pat Toomey again brought up the issue of sanctuary cities.

This address came just four days after his proposed bill to clamp down on sanctuary cities failed to advance in the Senate.

Toomey blasted that outcome, saying the bill “was supported by a bipartisan majority, but unfortunately, a minority of the U.S. Senate—led by Minority Leader Harry Reid—blocked us from even debating the bill.”

The measure did achieve a majority, 53-44, but couldn’t reach the sixty votes needed for cloture. Although calling it bipartisan is a bit of a stretch, as only two Democrats supported the bill while one Republican opposed the measure.

In the address, Toomey also told the story of Katie Steinle, the woman who was killed by an undocumented immigrant who Toomey and his allies say benefited from a sanctuary city policy.

“It’s just outrageous and this must not stand,” Toomey states.“The safety of the American people is too important—the lives of Kate Steinle and so many others are too important—to allow sanctuary cities to remain, and this is why I will continue fighting to protect our communities.”

It is clear this subject is incredibly important to Toomey so expect it to remain a prominent issue in this campaign.

  1. Has the garden gnome denounced trump? does toomey ever do anything? other than look and act like a garden gnome?

  2. there was this profile cnn did of kate steinle after she was killed and it talked about what a kind and loving person she was. once she gave her brand new coat to a homeless person that needed it more than she did.

i doubt she’d support toomey using her name to kick people out of the US.
