PA-Sen: Toomey Praises and Defends Rubio

Official PortraitIt was announced yesterday that Senator Pat Toomey will be endorsing Marco Rubio for president.

Senator Toomey believes that Rubio will do well in Pennsylvania for several reasons.

“I think that Marco has a very broad appeal. He’s got a very compelling life story. The fact that he is fluent in Spanish doesn’t hurt at all,” Sen. Toomey commented. “The fact that he can communicate as well as any Republican I’ve ever met. The fact that he’s got an optimistic, upbeat message about what America can become once again. The fact that he understands our security threat very well, in great detail at a very sophisticated level I think that is going to be reassuring to people who are really concerned about how the next president is going to keep us safe. I think all of those things contribute to Marco’s ability to be a very strong candidate in Pennsylvania.”

The Senator was not sure, however, if Pennsylvania will still matter by the time Republican primary gets to the commonwealth on April 26th.

“I think it’s very hard to say and that it’s entirely possible that when we get to the Pennsylvania primary in late April that it will matter a great deal,” Toomey stated. “We just don’t know yet, but I am optimistic that Marco Rubio can do well in Pennsylvania as well as across the country.”

Senator Toomey also addressed Rubio’s commitment to running for president and the criticism he has faced for poor attendance record in the Senate.

“When a person decides they’re going to commit to running for president of the United States that becomes an all consuming exercise,” he said. “To his credit Marco is not attempting to hold his senate seat as an insurance policy and he has been in attendance for really important votes.”

Toomey wrapped things up by stating that “Marco’s top priority right now is to be elected the next president of the United States and that’s entirely appropriate.”

  1. How about wrapping things up by not missing votes in the Senate and doing what the citizens of Florida sent him to do—the job of representing them in Congress. Single sided voters??? Asking someone to do their job on a daily basis is not being single sided. If I missed work like Rubio, and the rest of the elected officials running in their respective primaries, I’d be terminated from my position. Give me a break.

  2. Both Toomey and Rubio have done great work for their states. They are both highly respected in DC and their states. People who criticize these senators for any reason are single sided voters, they don’t care how good of a proposal the opposite side has they just want them to fail for political reasons. The Ambassador’s office will continue to fund and endorse these great senators throughout their political careers. The Ambassador’s office would like to thank them for all they have done for all the people and wish them good luck in their upcoming elections.
