It’s never good when Buzzfeed writes about you.
Senator Pat Toomey just found that out the hard way.
Christopher Massie of Buzzfeed analyzed the transcripts and videos of Budget Committee hearings since 2013 and found that Toomey had missed over 80% of them.
Altogether, the freshman Senator was absent from 46 of the 57 meetings during this time period.
Massie also found that two hearings occurred on days when Sen. Toomey had a fundraiser. He also missed another one this year to announce his endorsement of Marco Rubio for President live on CNN.
This phenomenon isn’t exactly unique, the constant need to fundraise leads Senators and Congressman to miss many committee meetings. Attacking incumbents on this fact is also a time-honored tradition and it is highly likely that Katie McGinty will continue the streak.

Don’t blame Senator Toomey, the tone for getting business done in the Senate was set 8 years ago by Mitch McConnell.

I thought people weren’t giving Toomey enough credit with how tough he was going to be to beat this election.
He’s running ads and going negative already. His polling must show this as a close race. This isn’t going to help.
I hope he is permanently absent from the Senate after this election.
