PA17: Parnell Outraises Lamb in Q2

The GOP challenger gets the best of Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Allegheny) in the second quarter of 2020.

Sean Parnell, a combat veteran and conservative author who was endorsed by President Donald Trump in late 2019 for the 17th Congressional District, raised slightly under $720,000 from the beginning of April to the end of June. Parnell’s second quarter haul is his strongest since he entered the race and over three times the amount he raised in the first three months of 2020

Parnell has now raised $1.22 million in the election cycle-to-date and entered July with just under $870,000 cash on hand

Lamb’s campaign raised just over $440,000 from the beginning of April to the end of June. His second quarter haul is a $100,000 improvement from the previous quarter, although it is not as high as the final quarter of 2019 when he led the state’s Congressional delegation by raising just over $585,000 in the final three months of 2019

The freshman Democrat has now raised $2.31 million in the election cycle-to-date. Although Parnell outraised Lamb by just under $280,000 during in the second quarter, the Allegheny County Democrat still holds a cash on hand advantage and entered July with $1.33 million

According to Open Secrets, Lamb raised the second most funds of any Congressional candidate in the state from 2017-2018, only trailing Democrat Scott Wallace who largely self funded his unsuccessful bid in the 1st District. He raised over $9M over the course of both races in 2018.

Lamb’s first race captured national attention when he upset GOP state Rep. Rick Saccone in the special election in the Trump friendly old 18th District. His opponent for the newly drawn 17th District, Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-Allegheny), was a well funded candidate, who raised over $3M during his re-election bid.

The Cook Political Report currently has the seat held by Lamb as “Likely Democrat” for 2020.

Lamb is currently one of three Pennsylvania Democrats being targeted by the NRCC’s initial 2020 list, along with Reps. Matt Cartwright (D-Lackawanna) and Susan Wild (D-Lehigh).

  1. Parnell is a carpetbagger who moved into the district upon urging
by Trump. Wonder how many of his donors live in the district? No doubt
Parnell was on Fox shilling for dough with Hannity and Ingraham from donors all over the country.

  2. Lamb has outraised Parnell by double so far, but you are headlining the GOP LOSER?
