Patel Ends Bid for PA-12 Nomination

Bhavini Patel

Bhavini Patel, Democratic candidate for the US Congressional seat in the 12th District, is ending her 2022 election bid.

In a press release, Bhavini said “I’ve been gradually building support for my campaign among labor and community leaders since the end of 2021. In a short period of time, our campaign showcased the power and importance of connecting with people’s day-to-day concerns and kitchen table issues. Since we launched publicly on January 20, the campaign didn’t gain the momentum needed for a short runway to Election Day. So I am ending my campaign for Congress and will continue serving my local community as Edgewood Borough Council Member.”

“I love Pittsburgh and I’m committed to making this town and this region better for all of us. I am grateful to all those who publicly supported my campaign and I look forward to working with you in the future.”

Bhavini’s departure leaves Steve Irwin, Summer Lee and Jerry Dickinson to compete for the Democratic nomination.

With just four days remaining until the March 15 petition deadline, only Irwin has submitted his petitions as of 2 p.m. on Friday.
