From today’s Politico Influence…
Sen. Pat Toomey isn’t letting his position on the supercommittee stop him from fundraising. The Pennsylvania Republican, who has held several fundraisers while on the panel, is upping the ante next month with his 50thbirthday celebration on Nov. 16 at Sonoma.
It won’t just be Toomey with a birthday hat on. Six of his Senate colleagues are slated to attend, according to an invite obtained by POLITICO. Sens. John Cornyn of Texas, John Barrasso of Wyoming, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Dan Coats of Indiana, Jim DeMint of South Carolina and Mike Lee of Utah are all expected to attend the $1,000 per PAC or $500 for individuals event at the Capitol Hill wine bar. A Toomey spokeswoman declined to comment.

Kelly, when running for office becomes free of charge, then maybe that would be possible. But I don’t know of any country that is a democracy where that exists.
Here’s a thought…turning 50? Happy to be alive? Raise funds for a nonprofit to help those in need…MS Society…Leukemia and Lymphoma Society…American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Pat, get over your self-importance, grow up, and do some good for society in general.
