Joe Sestak begins his new campaign ad with a simple introduction:  “I’m Joe Sestak, the Democrat.”  After that, though, it’s all about one former Republican, Sestak’s primary challenger, Sen. Arlen Specter.

Sestak’s long-awaited campaign ad hitting Specter on his decades spent as a Republican politician is finally on the air in Pennsylvania, and it pulls no punches on Specter’s GOP past.

The ad features video footage of former President George W. Bush supporting Specter, with former Republican Sen. Rick Santorum on stage with them.  Twice it shows Specter saying that his party switch last year would “enable me be re-elected.”

While Sestak’s initial campaign ads focused on his own Democratic credentials and responded to Specter’s accusations on his Naval record, this ad seeks to frame the May 18 Democratic primary as a referendum on Specter.
