Poll: Still Statistically Tied In Philly Mayor Race

In a poll released Friday morning by the campaign, the race for the Democratic nomination for Philadelphia mayor is still too close to call.

Data For Progress, a self-described progressive think tank and polling firm, surveyed 560 likely Democratic voters in Philadelphia and found a statistical tie when the +/-4 percentage-point margin of error is factored in.

Former City Councilwoman Helen Gym and former City Controller Rebecca Rhynhart received the largest share of the responses at 21 percent, while former City Councilwoman Cherelle Parker pulled in 19 percent. Real estate mogul Allan Domb and Shop Rite magnate Jeff Brown polled at 13 and nine percent, respectively, while state Rep. Amen Brown was at 2%

Fourteen percent of those surveyed indicated that they were not sure or were backing another candidate.

The poll, released by the Gym campaign, comes on the heels of an independent poll from The Committee Of Seventy that also showed a statistical deadlock.

Results of a new poll that show Helen Gym and Rebecca Rhynhart in a tie for first place.

From April 26 to 29, 2023, Data for Progress conducted a survey of 560 likely Democratic primary voters in Philadelphia using SMS and web panel respondents. The sample was weighted to be representative of likely voters by age, gender, education, race, geography, and voting history. The survey was conducted in English. The margin of error is ±4 percentage points.

    1. Nor is the maga GOP competitive in Philadelphia’s Republican primary — take that, Pittsburgh rival!
