Post-Gazette: Mass begins inauguration day for Corbett

The Post-Gazette’s Tom Barnes reports that incoming Governor Tom Corbett and Lt. Governor Jim Cawley at Saint Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg today.

Corbett told Barnes he wasn’t concerned about the less-than-ideal weather and planned to deliver his inaugural speech at an outdoor plaza behind the Capitol.

According to the Post-Gazette:

In a Roman Catholic Mass this morning, Harrisburg Bishop Joseph P. McFadden told incoming Gov. Tom Corbett and Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley that God would always be with them and that all they had to do was ask Him for help and it would be there.

Shortly before they were to be sworn into office, Mr. Corbett and Mr. Cawley and their families attended the Mass at the St. Patrick Cathedral, just down State Street from the Capitol.

Mr. Corbett walked down the street to the church, dressed in a dark suit but no overcoat or hat, arm in arm with his wife Susan. Their son, Tom III, read one Bible passage during the service, and their daughter, Kate Corbett Gibson, read another.
