PPP Poll: 76% of Pennsylvanians Support Increasing Minimum Wage

moneyIn a recent PPP Poll, Pennsylvanians approved of an increase in the minimum wage and an increased focus on gun control.

Minimum Wage

The current minimum wage is $7.25 an hour and 76% of Pennsylvanians polled support increasing it but they are in a disagreement as to where the number should be set.

25% support increasing it to $15 an hour, 20% support an increase to $12 an hour and 31% support increasing the minimum wage to $10 an hour.

On the other hand, 10% want it to be kept at $7.25 an hour while 11% believe the minimum wage should be eliminated altogether, 3% were not sure how they felt about the issue.

Gun Rights

87% of the Pennsylvanians polled supported a requirement that every person who wants to buy a firearm undergo a criminal background check with only 7% in opposition and 6% not sure.

Additionally, 85% support a bill barring people on the terrorist watch list from purchasing a firearm, 8% opposed the bill and 8% were not sure.

When it comes to supporting a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons, 58% of Pennsylvanians are in support of a ban, 31% oppose and 10% are not sure.

Public Policy Polling surveyed 1,505 likely Pennsylvania voters from July 29th to 31st. The margin of error is +/- 2.5%.

  1. Actually, public polling would be an improvement over the performance of the PA legislature. So much cheaper and less crooks voting.

  2. Polls like this are meaningless only reflect the opinion of people who are ill-informed (for the most part) on highly technical and constitutional issues.
    IF we are to govern ‘by polling’ why do we need legislators??
    The fact is that the anti-federalists (founding fathers) knew this and demanded a ‘Bill of Rights’ to protect Freedom from the ‘vicissitudes’ of public opinion that could easily be driven by a manipulative press!
    Every time I have presented issues on gun control to a group of people they have reacted angrily at the lies the press has pushed on the 2nd Amendment and gun ownership.
    Gun Control is a fraud perpetrated on a public perception of ‘increasing violent crime’ when the FBI UCR and academicians and the Justice Department ‘all’ show violent crime with firearms to be down nearly 50% in the last 20+ years.
