State Representative Brendan Boyle (D-Phila.) raised $151,256 in the third fundraising quarter according to his campaign. They also have a grand total of $308,103 cash on hand. The third fundraising quarter consists of the months of July, August, and September.
The Boyle campaign has now brought in over $400,000 since the State Rep. announced his candidacy back in April. The campaign stated that more than 570 individuals donated money this quarter and that the average donation came to under $300.
“As the son of a Janitor and a school crossing guard, I will fight in Washington to make sure the wealthiest Americans and the biggest corporations pay their fair share in taxes to ease the burden on working and middle class families,” Boyle said. “In addition to our positive fundraising quarter, our campaign knocked on over seventeen thousand doors and signed up more than two hundred new volunteers who will help carry our message of building an economy that works for all of us to Congress.”
Boyle’s total is about $100,000 less than what he pulled in during the second quarter, his first since entering the race. It is also significantly less than what Valerie Arkoosh, the only opposing candidate who has so far announced her total, raised during the same time.
It is not unusual, however, for a candidate to raise less money in their second quarter as the build-up and excitement that comes after their announcement dissipates somewhat. Boyle can comfort himself with the knowledge that he still has strong ties to the labor community thanks to the support of Congressman Bob Brady.
Other candidates for the Democratic nomination in Pennsylvania’s 13th District include physician/activist Valerie Arkoosh, State Sen. Daylin Leach, and former Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies.

Brendan will benefit by being the only Philadelphia candidate, and a fractured Montgomery County vote.
That said, $105k in a quarter — even typically slow Q3 — is not a good showing.
