Reader Poll: Koplinski To Get Most Signatures for Lt. Gov Petitions

Last week I wrote that with all the speculation concerning the Governor’s race, the battle for the second spot on the ticket was being overshadowed. Boy, was I wrong.

Our latest poll, asking which Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor would collect the most signatures during the upcoming ballot petition period received the most votes for a reader poll since last September. (That poll asked which Democratic candidate for Governor was most likely to drop out first. Ed Pawlowski, the eventual “winner”, came in third in the voting).

Harrisburg City Councilman Brad Koplinski won the poll with the support of 278 respondents. In a close second, however, was Harrisburg city official Brenda Alton who pulled in 232 votes.

Alton, who isn’t generally considered in the top-tier of candidates, posted a link to our site on her Facebook page and asked her supporters to vote for her. This helps both to explain her high total and showcases why public officials should be spending more time reading PoliticsPA.

After those two, there was a steep drop-off to third place finisher former Rep. Mark Critz who received 97 votes. State Sen. Mike Stack came in fourth with 55.

Rounding out the field, State Rep. Brandon Neuman brought in 33 votes while Bradford County Commissioner Mark Smith got the support of just 15 readers.

The full results of the poll are included below:

  • Brenda Alton (32%)
  • Mark Critz (15%)

  1. Brad Koplinski received the most votes at State Committee last week. Brad received those votes because of his on the ground organization that is in place in most of the sixty-seven counties in the Commonwealth. That will translate into the most petitions being signed for him in the LG race. Brad knows how to run a campaign and this campaign is spot on at this time.

  2. Congrats to Koplinski and Alton! Met Alton at State Committee and she is not Linda Thompson. Really pleasant, spoke directly to the issues and her volunteers were full of energy professional and worked hard.

    Many were impressed.

We should be proud of them both. Great poll!!!
