Reader Poll: Majority Approve of Senator Toomey’s Performance

Official PortraitIt’s a start.

Last week, we asked our readers whether they approve of Senator Pat Toomey’s job performance. Nearly 60% responded that they did.

That’s good news for Toomey, who already has to deal with his 2010 opponent Joe Sestak. We did learn this weekend, though, that Attorney General Kathleen Kane won’t jump into the race.

777 respondents approve of the Senator’s performance.

On the other hand, 559 readers disapprove of how Sen. Toomey has done his job.

The full results are included below:

Do you approve or disapprove of U.S. Senator Pat Toomey’s overall job performance?

  • Approve (58%)
  • Disapprove (42%)

  1. I am disappointed with Pat Toomey not voting against the Cromnibus.
It takes guts and solid convictions to stand against the insanity of 1600 pages.
I don’t care how they spin it.
Wromg is wrong. Two wrongs DON’T make a right.
    The Republican politics Stink.
They have compromised with the enemy and will reap what they sow!

  2. Wow what a great job by Senator Toomey! PA is so lucky to have him. One of the few grownups in the Senate.

  3. Pat Toomey? Isn’t he the guy that ran against Sestak six years ago and then went into hiding in Washington? Has he surfaced? Sort of like Groundhog Day…did he see his shadow?

  4. Politicspa reader polls are not news or real. They have no value to predict election results. They are just a silly waste of space on this website.

  5. JL981-
Help another Dem win the Primary against Sestak, and you won’t have to vote for Toomey. (Also, if it’s Sestak vs Toomey you can vote for neither.)

I’d be curious about a PoliticsPA poll where readers ranked their liberal vs conservative tendencies on a scale of 1 to 5. That might help put polls about various candidates and issues into perspective if we knew the demographic baseline of the readers.

  6. Pennsylvania was well represented in Washington this past week. Our House members voted 16-2 for the compromise budget; only Doyle and Cartwright vote no. Also both of our Senators supported the budget compromise.

Senator Toomey has shown that in his time in the Senate he has come to understand the importance of what it takes to govern. After his support of the Obama blessed compromise, an Elizabeth Warren style Democrat would have a hard time making the charge stick that Toomey is a right wing ideologue.

  7. Be sure to check out our newly redesigned Facebook page and join in our effort to recruit Josh Shapiro to run for the US Senate! Let’s unite behind Josh and in doing so nominate the best candidate to help elect a Democratic majority in 2016!
