Reader Poll: Majority Say They’ll Never Support Paterno

Paterno
Paterno

Jay Paterno shocked the political world last month when he jumped into the Lieutenant Governor race, although perhaps not in the way he hoped.

Paterno’s entry initially saw him emerge at the top of the polls. After a disappointing performance at the Progressive Summit earlier this month, though, the former PSU assistant coach finished last in that event’s straw poll.

So we decided to test out just what our readers thought of Paterno’s candidacy. Unfortunately for the first-time candidate a majority of readers, 362 of them, said that they would never support him.

107 readers said they want to wait to see how his candidacy unfolds, while 93 people asserted that they are supporting him.

Finally, 76 voters stated that they don’t support him but they’re open to a switch.

The full results are included below:

  • I'm waiting to see how his candidacy unfolds (17%)
  • I'm supporting him (15%)

  1. Sample too thin.

I would rather have a fellow or gal out of General Assembly or otherwise politically sophisticated without having gone along to get along

  2. I guess it’s too bad the electorate is ONLY made up of the 200 or so political nerds who read PoliticsPA.

Haha, I don’t even care about Jay Paterno, but really, get over yourself.

  3. Paterno has nothing really to offer in this race. His name may actually cost the Democratic Guv nominee votes. If he wanted to serve, he should have ran against a Repulbican in the State House. Jay has no experience, no record of helping Democrats and nothing to really offer. In fact he has nothing but a famous father.

    Don’t run Jay, don’t run!
