Democratic State Representatives Erin Molchany and Harry Readshaw find themselves in a tough incumbent vs. incumbent primary battle.

Due to redistricting, the contest in the 36th district is set to take place between two legislators who were each elected by some part of their new constituency. As a result, it can be difficult to predict the winners in these races. Molchany has earned the backing of influential local leaders, but Readshaw’s long standing in the legislature and the fact that most of the new district was already his boosts his campaign.

That didn’t stop our readers, though, as almost two-thirds of them selected Erin Molchany. Altogether, Molchany received 385 votes.

Readshaw, meanwhile, only found support among 198 readers.

It should be noted that Molchany employed a full-court press on social media, linking to the poll on her personal Twitter and giving status updates on her campaign’s Facebook page. This is again yet another example of why all campaigns should be regularly reading PoliticsPA.
