Reader Poll: Move PA Society to PA

waldorf astoriaOn the heels of the latest PA Society weekend, we asked our readers how they felt about the events’ location.

Over the years there have been complaints that an event dedicated to Pennsylvania politics should be held in the state of Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, defenders of the current location of NYC argue that it is a tradition, that holding it outside of the state means no turf wars, and it creates an atmosphere free of tension (at least most of the time).

In the end, though, about six out of ten respondents felt PA Society should be moved to PA. 342 readers ultimately voted to move it to PA while 228 responded that they want it to continue to be held in New York City.

Despite these results, it’s unlikely the location will change anytime soon.

The full results are posted below:

Where should PA Society be held?

  • Move it to PA (60%)
  • Keep it in NYC (40%)

  1. As long as people see the weekend as a retreat and a chance to let their hair down while wheeling and dealing….

As long as that happens, its never coming to Pa. The ensuing turf battles you would see of what city gets to host it or which year they’d get it is an unwarranted headache. And, by the way, the move to Pa would completely miss the point of doing the weekend in NYC In the first place.

Besides, Pa. Society does a luncheon each spring, in Pennsylvania. So this faux outrage is unfounded and money is already spent here.
