Reader Poll: Policies and Ideology Matter the Most in Gov Vote

PA-Governor-Mansion2It’s a question that has vexed political scientists for decades, what factors are most important to voters when they cast their ballot. Apparently, all those academics needed to do was ask our readers because they had a clear answer.

In response to the latest reader poll which queried what factor is most important in your choice for Governor, our readers responded overwhelmingly that policies and ideology are the answer. 329 people, two-thirds of all respondents, voted for policies and ideology as the most important factor.

Electability finished a respectable second-place with 129 voters.

All the other options, however, received barely any support and seem to suggest they are not in any way real factors in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Just 19 readers felt the candidate’s personality was most important while only 10 respondents choose geography as a crucial requirement for their vote. Just nine people cited the heavily hyped factor of money as significant to them while a paltry three readers said that endorsements were a critical factor in their voting decisions.

The full results of the poll are included below:

  1. Wouldn’t all politicians and activists like to think this survey if reflective of the electorate as a whole? But alas, it is nothing more than the musings of those in the bubble. My guess and experience would rank them in this order:
    Policies and Ideology-Geography (tied)

  • Does the NYC Verdict Make You More or Less Likely to Vote For Trump in 2024?

    • Less Likely (36%)
    • More Likely (34%)
