Reader Poll: What Do You Think of Obamacare?

ObamacareThe GOP leadership in Congress is determined at long last to repeal the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.

Last week, a vote to do just that secured the support of all but nine members of their members (two of which were PA Reps. Charlie Dent and Brian Fitzpatrick).

Democrats, however, are finally motivated to save the outgoing President’s signature accomplishment.

Meanwhile, some Congressmen are feeling the heat from their constituents about losing their healthcare coverage.

All the while, it’s unclear exactly what the Republicans’ alternative plan is and if Donald Trump and Paul Ryan are on the same page.

We want to know what our readers think.

  1. Moby: I intended to send you one little bit of note in order to say thanks the moment again for your personal exceptional guidelines you have shown on this site. This is simply open-handed of you to offer publicly what a lot of people could have marketed as an electronic book to generate some profit for their own end, notably seeing that you might have done it if you ever considered necessary. The creative ideas likewise acted like a good way to fully grasp that other people online have the identical dream the same as my own to realize way more when it comes to this matter. I think there are a lot more enjoyable situations ahead for those who scan through your blog.

  2. David, that’s what insurance is/was: you buy it before you’re sick. Unfortunately, ACA is an unsustainable system. You can’t have an insurance market that people can buy in to after the fact. You can’t buy $100,000 of repairs for $1,000 after your house is already burned down or nobody would buy it ahead of time to cover your loss. This is what welfare is for. And, this part of Obamacare is going away because it has to.

  3. I had a heart attack two years ago while on ObamaCare. I had almost 200 thousand dollars in medical bills and I only paid around 900 dollars out of pocket. So when I hear Paul Ryan call ObamaCare a failure I just have to shake my head. What a liar Lyin Ryan is

  4. I didn’t like it when we had to pay for insurance and when going to use it we found out we had existing conditions and we were denied.
The definition of existing conditions was any condition that lasted was lasting and required ongoing insurance coverage so as not to bankrupt families and force them into poverty.

I would like to see some positive actions such as negotiating drugs before we throw millions from the top of the bridge into troubled waters.

  5. Among the many repeated lines leading to ACA was: “30 million uninsured.” Today there are 10 million (3% of us population). About 10 million have chosen insurance vs. the tax, and about another 10 million have enrolled in Medicaid to avoid the tax. About 2/3 of the new Medicaid enrollees were eligible for Medicaid prior to ACA. Given the price tags, these results are pretty sad.

It’s also true that the cost curve for what’s actually paid for care has been bent upwards.

  6. PaCitizen: Hello, Comrade. We doing a bigly job as liars for Trump. Make Putin happy and we get out of gulag free.

  7. Insurance premium increases have slowed since the implementation of Obamacare. Furthermore, if Republicans hadn’t gutted the risk corridors, premiums would not have increased so much this year.

  8. Because of Obamacare I lost my Health Insurance. No longer could I afford paying for insurance under Obamacare! Under Obamacare the cost of insurance just skyrocketed ! Free market health insurance a lot cheaper.

  9. Insurance is not the same as access. Try finding docs w/ Medicaid or a choice in plans in 1/3rd of counties where ACA creates a monopoly for one big-business insurance company. In addition, the expense of this new system’s bent-up cost curve (that’s right, the increasing costs of treating people as a whole in the system has accelerated–ask yourself why you may not have known that) killed middle class real income.

Going on our third year without family insurance. The Death Spiral cometh.

  10. Obamacare has saved the lives of thousands of Americans and prevented hundreds of thousands from going into medical bankruptcy. It’s not perfect and we should push for expansion until every American has access to healthcare. In the long run it would boost the economy and people would live happier and healthier lives. But to repeal Obamacare would be a drastic mistake.

  11. I like free stuff given to me by Democrats and paid for by people with jobs. That’s why I beg for money online. So give me my free health care and my free Obamaphone. This disbarred attorney ain’t gonna earn those things himself!
