There will be a re-match this April.
Congressman Bill Shuster will once again try to fend off a primary challenge from Art Halvorson.
Rep. Shuster won in 2014 by a solid 53% to 35% margin but 2016 may have a different landscape.
The last few months Politico has published some damaging reports on Shuster’s relationship with an airline lobbyist. Halvorson, of course, is looking to capitalize as much as possible on these pieces.
Shuster’s critics believe he is now the most vulnerable he’s ever been, although this seat has been held by either the incumbent or his father since 1973.
So, we leave the question up to you.

Shuster has no rapport with the tea party. He is not showing up to the debate the Blair group scheduled with Halvorson on March 22. Shuster is too intimidated. He made up some excuse about needing to be in DC for something. That is always his excuse. He doesn’t even have his own home in the district. This 57 year old congressman is registered as living with his parents in Everett. Grow up Shuster!
The only thing proven about Shuster is that the lobbyists have him in a headlock. 99% of his campaign is funded by special interest groups. Shuster is no conservative. He voted four times in the last five years for spending on Obamacare and Planned Parenthood. Halvorson spends his time listening to voters. Shuster spent the weekend before last with airline lobbyists in Miami
Lol go art go… That’d be pretty smart if they actually did do that since it’s a poll and all? Shuster may not be perfect but at least he’s a proven conservative. Art Halvorson changes his positions daily and I’ve heard some tea party people in the district say they stopped showing up at events he attends because he’s so uncomfortable to be around. Doesn’t care about the district just cares about his ego.
A little birdie told me that Shuster’s campaign manager sent his interns from IUP to the campus computer labs late last night with instructions to vote in this poll on every computer they could get to.
Shuster Jr. needs more than a slap on the wrist from the House Ethics Committee. Vacationing with airline lobbyists a week after his committee passes an air traffic bill. Appalling!
Harrison Bradshaw – You do NOT KNOW the Shuster family! If you did, you wouldn’t be so inaccurate about your statements. take it from me, a lifelong friend of one of the Shuster kids. Bud was NEVER investigated by the FBI. He was slapped on the wrist for a minor infraction by the house ethics committee. He was NOT told to leave. And he did NOT GIVE Bill the dealership!!! Bill bought it from Denny Kelly. And Bill did NOT run it into the ground..he sold a VERY healthy business to Mark Thomas. It was as Thomas Chrysler that the business failed. PERFECT example of how people THINK they know so much. Only ignorant, hateful people say things like you have here.
Halvorson has the ground came! Shuster just churns out TV ads and mailers. Saw his ad this morning. It made me sick!
I expect to see Halvorson peaking at the beginning of April. The groundswell is obvious! Shuster is going down!
I see letters in the papers every week supporting Halvorson. Shuster’s supporters are firing back with blanks. Their letters are full of bluster and lack substance. The people are saying that it’s time for a change.

I am so glad we are almost done with this career politician. Bill Shuster wouldn’t know a conservative piece of legislation if it hit him over the head.
Times are hard, people are struggling to live, and so much has changed over the last 10 years. We need new responsible leaders that can control spending, build jobs, change the health care, and make a difference. Please pray for our leaders new and old to come together and lead with respect, responsibility, courage and commitment. Remember you are elected to serve the people!
Art Halvorson is a man of character and his campaign is a movement that is gaining momentum every day. His campaign was the first in the state to get 1000 signatures and thus get on the ballot. In this year of the outsider, Halvorson will win and the 40+ years Shuster dynasty will come to an end.
Little Nicky — do you even go to his church? Because Halvorson has been a devoted Christian and church-goer his whole life. I’m not sure why you’d even bring up his church attendance in this anyway — but I personally know him and I resent the fact that anyone would make up a lie like that. He’s the most honest, decent, humble man I know. And he is devoted to serving several Christian groups as well as his church with no compensation or expectation of a return. If you don’t believe me, start going to his church and you’ll see him there every week. That’s the only way you can make a claim like that.
My vote is for Halvorson but Shuster will win this race. The campaigns should be focused on reaching voters instead of playing games with a silly poll that does not matter. Shuster’s commercials are up and running and Art’s campaign is concerned about this poll. Raise money get on the air. This election will be won or lost with mass media.
Art Halvorson is a good Christian man, when he’s running for office, that is. We’ll known fact that he started going to church with his wife when he started his 2014 campaign and stopped going for months after he lost, only to start again when he decided to run again.
Shuster is certainly getting traction in the news. Maybe the stories in Fortune, Politico, and many district papers about Shuster partying in Miami with airline lobbyists and his failed FAA Bill will boost his support on election day! Why do Shuster’s spokespeople never try to defend his behavior? They just go after Halvorson. There is no excuse for Bill Shuster!
Shuster will win again because American voters are asses who like Trump or Hillary — leading us to where the Germans were in the 1930s. The country is doomed; here comes the rise of a dictator. Shuster is a drunken hack who doles out goodies — a classic vote-buying politician, and we are stupid enough to continue to elect slobs like him and trump and hillary.

Wow – you guys take this seriously..its an online poll for fun before an election. Yet anytime someone says something good about Shuster or bad about Halversen they pounce! Halversen’s campaign has failed to gain any attention or real traction other than a few stories last week. For a guy that has been running straight for nearly four years I’d expect better.. maybe he will have better luck in 2018?

Halvorson is coming back up! That is because the real voters of the 9th are waking up and voting! All Shuster ever does is buy votes. Even when it’s a poll!
Wow, Halvorson came down from 67 to 37 overnight. And it’s soooo likely that PA voters were pounding this thing all night. The Shuster campaign has a room with four guys getting paid hourly to click this poll and reset their browser. Not a bad gig! Where do I apply?
Cassidy: My family has known Shusters for years, and supported Bud Shuster in very election until 2000, when we decided we had had enough of the cronyism that many in our district see as “business as usual”. Bud, alas, was corrupt, and that’s why both the FBI and the Congressional Ethics Committee told him in 2001 it was time to move along.
Bud’s son, Bill, isn’t evil. But neither is he remarkable in any way. His sole professional experience before inheriting the Congressional seat from his father was as director of the car dealership Bud gave him. Guess what? He ran it into the ground.
Bill, like his father, is an influence peddler. That’s all he does. He does not work very hard, as his campaign so loudly claims, and he does not belong in Congress. I find his presence their embarrassing. We finally have an opportunity to replace him with a decent Christian man who understands basic political ethics.
Looks like Shuster’s interns and paid mercenaries were busy bees last night! Hundreds of overnight votes, not obvious at all Bill! I’m sure all of your supporters just happened to be up all night and just voted once each. Sorry you won’t be able to pay consultants for votes next month!
Cassidy King, anyone who has talked to Art Halvorson (which is how you spell his name by the way — it’s written right into the poll….) knows that he is a strong Christian and serves in several ministries and Christian communities. I haven’t heard him speak a single “evil evil lie” about Bill. All he has done has state facts about Bill’s voting record and policies. It’s time for the Shusters to step aside like many other career politicians and let someone else do the job. Art has already promised term limits and turning down retirement pay from Congress. He is a man of honor and honesty. He isn’t the one running a dirty campaign or spreading lies about his opponent and then being called out about it on national media sources — Bill is. So whether or not Bill and his wife split amicably or not (which frankly I don’t care about) he IS currently dating someone who is a conflict of interest — something you SHOULD be concerned about it whether you know him or not. That’s not a sign of true Christianity like you claim. He’s free to date whoever he wants as long as she’s not a lobbyist receiving special treatment and breaking the law.

There have been phone call polls that have said HORRIBLE HORRIBLE things about Bill and his ex wife. Their marriage didn’t work..HOW DARE ANYONE THINK that they KNOW what happened. Bill Shuster is not dating someone from the pro-life movement. And even if he was, it still wouldn’t be acceptable for him to direct billions of taxpayer dollars to a cause that his girlfriend lobbies for.
And exactly what has Halvorson said that isn’t true? Shuster is the chair of the Transportation Committee, his ladyfriend is a lobbyist for the airline industry, and Shuster has cranked out a lot of legislation that is especially favorable to her clients. Any reasonable person could conclude that it’s shady.
What have the voters in Pa/9 got from paying tricky Bill over $2 million in 16 years on the hill??? Nothing but corruption; possible moral problems; lies; listing his parents address as his home address, haven’t we had enough??? As the chairman of Mothers Against Philandering Politicians (MAPP), I strongly discourage anyone from voting for Bill Shuster. Just ask yourself this question: Would you let your daughter date Bill Shuster? No. Don’t vote for him either.

Two big changes from last time 1. Travis Schooley is not running, so the opposition is not divided. 2. The Trump/Sanders surge means very big trouble for the Washington Cartel. It is hard to imagine anyone voting for both Trump and Shuster.
But that’s the whole point. Halverson just needs to say the airlines are buying the election for their buddy shuster. Even if Halverson loses, Shuster’s credibility among constituents is severely tarnished.
The airline industry will not let down their friendly regulator. Money will pour in; Shuster stays in the airline pocket.
