Reader Poll: Who Will Win Pa., And By How Much?

Polls throughout Pennsylvania have been putting the Keystone State in President Obama’s pocket for months, but a recent Susquehanna Research and poll, commissioned by the Pa. Republican Party, says otherwise.

An average compiled by Real Clear Politics puts Obama over Romney by 8.6 percent in the state, while this SP&R poll shows the President with a slim 1-point lead, 48 percent to 47 – well within the margin of error.

The Dems laughed off the poll, saying it was a desperate attempt to keep donors from putting away their checkbooks and moving on to other, more contested, states.

So, is this wishful thinking by the GOP to improve their down-ballot outlook, or do the Dems have something to worry about?

Tell us, readers:

What do you think is the margin in the presidential race in Pa.?

  • Obama by 6-9 points (30%)
  • Obama by 3-5 points (20%)
  • Obama by 10+ points (14%)
  • Romney by 1-2 points (10%)
  • Dead even (8%)
  • Obama by 1-2 points (7%)
  • Romney by 3-5 points (6%)
  • Romney by 6+ points (4%)

  1. I think that it is a foregone conclusion O is going to win the state by a comfortable margin. An interesting question is, what will the county by county look like.

I believe that the only Obama 08 county that Romney really has a chance of picking up is Chester (due to its wealth). However, I believe that Obama has a chance to pick up the following McCain 08 counties: Pike (lots of New Jerseyans moving there), Greene, Fayette (Obama barely lost there, older people and veterans that make up a big base in those counties are not as hot on Romney as the were on McCain), and perhaps even taking back Beaver, Lawrence, and/or Mercer counties.
