RNC Airs Anti-‘Obamacare’ Ad in PA (Video)

The Republican National Committee is targeting President Barack Obama’s signature legislative accomplishment via television ads set to air in 6 swing states, including Pa.

Citing a surveys conducted by the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation, the RNC contends that the program has failed to cut health care costs and is increasingly unpopular.

“Three years after promising lower costs and greater access to health care, the average American has seen the opposite. Premiums are up, and it’s harder to make ends meet today because of it. Furthermore, the cost to the taxpayers is $111 billion higher than projected,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

The spot will also run in Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, and Virginia.

Supporters say it’s too soon to grade the success of the Affordable Care Act, nicknamed ‘Obamacare’ by critics. It has yet to go into full effect; some of its most significant provisions begin in 2014.

Kaiser’s March poll shows approval of the law is split, with 1 percent in favor and 40 percent opposed.

Stay tuned, and take it with a grain of salt. PoliticsPA is seeking further details about the buy (where it will air, and how often). Party committees often hype an ad campaign for the purpose of earned media. For example, the Democratic National Committee back in November promoted an ad critical of Mitt Romney, broadcast in Pittsburgh. It aired fewer than half-a-dozen times.
