Saccone Holds On for the Win

Rick Saccone

Rick Saccone will start his second term much as he began his first: with a mandate of fewer than 200 votes. After all the absentee and provisional ballots were counted, the Republican had a 114 vote lead over Dem challenger David Levdansky.

He was Democrats’ number one target in 2012.

The final tally is Saccone 14,486, Levdansky 14,372.

Saccone (R-Allegheny) beat Levdansky, then a 24-year incumbent, by 151 votes in 2010.

The 114 vote Saccone lead is based on final – though yet unofficial – numbers. County boards of election will meet by Friday to certify them. Levdansky would have 5 days to request a recount, though it is unlikely that a recount would close such a wide gap.

PoliticsPA is seeking comment from Levdansky.

If Saccone holds on as is likely, the party holds on the state House will have remained identical to today’s 111 to 92 GOP majority.

Republicans picked up the seat of retiring Rep. Bud George (D-Clearfield) and Democrat Mark Painter knocked off Rep. Tom Quigley (R-Montgomery). Pending final counts, Rep. Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh) narrowly beat challenger Kevin Deely.

  1. Glad that liberal Levdansky lost, after screwing the hunters of our state with his bogus biased “deer audit” of pa gameless commission, that was conducted by a company run by past Pa game commission employees that he got into full swing by utilizing his position on budget & finance committee.

We have not forgotten Dave! Thats why you lost the last election also in the first place. That put the vote over the edge in my opinion. Good riddance!

  2. Is Dan Connolly that fat kid who lied about being a lawyer? Tim Murphy beat him meatball so severely I’m surprised Meatball Connolly would even think about running again. Besides, Beanbag Connolly makes levdansky look like JFK.

  3. Dave Levdansky has become very disliked in the district and he was basically the only Democrat that could lose the seat.

They had Dan Connolly ready to run for the seat, but after Dave Levdansky announced he would be running and redistricting was not going to change the district until 2014, he pulled out or was pulled out so that he would not face another loss (lost to Tim Murphy in 2010 for Congress) in the Primary.

Rick Saccone should remember that he beat Dave Levdansky this year, but any other Democrat likely would have won the election this year.

  4. Love it, great man, great family, great common sense, great leadership and someone that goes to work to get something accomplished. Very good for our area.

  5. I couldn’t be any more pleased that Rick won this race. He’s a good, honest man who will represent the 39th with honor and dignity. Levdansky would have been a disaster for his district and for the Commonwealth.

  6. I believe it is 111-92. Republicans had 112 after the last election but lost one (nominally) in special elections – (Ed Neilson replaced Denny O’Brien)
