Santorum Endorses Mackenzie in PA-15 Bid

Former U.S. Senator and former Presidential candidate Rick Santorum endorsed state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie in his bid for the 15th Congressional district.

“I proudly and strongly endorse Ryan Mackenzie for Congress.  Ryan is focused on improving the lives of Americans and he has a track record of results.” Santorum said.

Mackenzie cited Santorum’s support of President Trump during the 2016 election as a benefit of his endorsement.

“Rick is a leader on the challenges confronting American workers: fair trade deals, tax relief and healthcare reform, and he was a regular surrogate for Donald J. Trump on these issues during the 2016 election,” Mackenzie said.

Trump won the district by 8 points, while retiring Congressman Charlie Dent who regularly criticized Trump won the district by 20 points.

The endorsement will help Mackenzie tap into conservative activists in the district that will likely help him in the primary election.

Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh), Lehigh county Commissioner Marty Nothstein, and Dauphin county Commissioner Mike Pries, and former CIA officer Scott Uehlinger are also running for the seat.

  1. Mackenzie is pro-Trump and pro-life, so it makes sense that Santorum endorsed him.

He’s the only well-known Republican left in this race after Simmons dropped out.

  2. Are you people complete fools? These Harrisburg officials passed a spending plan without passing a revenue plan. Then they come back months later and base their revenue plan on expanded gambling. This is just a grab into the wallets of the working class and senior citizens. Wise up people – if you boycott gambling, you can bring Harrisburg to it’s knees. They are taking your money.

    1. Rep. Mackenzie is a defender of the taxpayer! He voted against the reckless Harrisburg spending and the unbalanced budget! You should get your facts straight, as your statements clearly show you don’t know what you are talking about.

      1. Little Ryan is a member of the Harrisburg Swamp. Fact. He will lose as a result of that fact. His comments clearly show his vote was done for CYA. He’s going to get pounded over this. Fact.

      2. Sorry lady, we don’t need anymore alleged “defenders of the taxpayers” Republicans in Congress. “defenders of the taxpayers” is code for “screwer of the middle / working class”. No more tax cuts for the wealthy. Trickle down doesn’t work.

        1. These comments are the desperate attempt by people to take down the front runner (one of them is even a self labeled Dem and we know they hate conservatives like Mackenzie). Good to know that Mackenzie is in the lead.

  3. We support Rep. Mackenzie because he has always stood up for the taxpayer. Thank you for your service, Rep. Mackenzie!

    1. Stood up for the taxpayer? That’s a bunch of nonsense. He passed a budget without the funds available! He will have a rude awakening soon. He is being towered over at PA Society as I type this. Pun intended! There’s a champion in town people.

  4. Ryan is part of the problem in Harrisburg. His chances will fizzle shortly. Stay tuned.

  5. LOL. Congrats, you’re endorsed by the guy who has his career ended by deadbeat Bob Casey after he was THOROUGHLY embarrassed by a 17 point loss. Who knows what the endorsement requirement was, limpest wrist..?

  6. That’s 2 reasonably big endorsement announcements for Mackenzie this week. He already had good grass roots support and organization. This adds to his momentum.

    1. A relatively weak (and I’m not going there about a limp wrist) candidate with very little experience is a recipe for disaster in the General Election. Endorsements are window dressing, not bad to have, mind you, but doesn’t bring out votes.

  7. Ironically, Lehigh County DA Martin’s endorsement of Marty Nothstein carries more weight in this race. Santorum last won when?

    1. No surprise on Jim Martin endorsing Marty Nothstein. The DA’s budget is approved by the county commissioners. Follow the money.

Lehigh County taxpayer money also goes to the Velodrome, where Marty is Executive Director. Follow the money.

      1. No surprise that the Swamp rat Harrisburg state reps endorsed MacKenzie. Follow the stink trails.
