Rick Santorum is doubling down on his opposition to same-sex marriage (although by now you could call it tripling or even quadrupling down).

Ever since an infamous interview back in 2003 in which he compared homosexuality to bestiality, Santorum has been arguably the most prominent opponent of same-sex marriage in the country.

His statements, and 2005 book, made him a major recipient of ridicule from LGBT activists.

This old feud was reignited thanks to the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which declared state bans on same-sex marriages unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment.

On Friday, the 2016 presidential hopeful compared the ruling to the notorious Dred Scott and Plessy cases. The former ruled African-Americans were not citizens and had no constitutional rights, the latter created the “separate but equal” doctrine.

The next day, Santorum contended that the Court is “potentially disrupting the foundation of the world”.

Now, his campaign is announcing that the former Senator will deliver the keynote for the Second Annual National Organization for Marriage dinner in Washington, D.C.

“Founded in 2007 in response to the growing need for an organized opposition to same-sex marriage in state legislatures, NOM serves as a national resource for marriage-related initiatives at the state and local level,” the organization writes on its website. “For decades, pro-family organizations have educated the public about the importance of marriage and the family, but have lacked the organized, national presence needed to impact state and local politics in a coordinated and sustained fashion. NOM seeks to fill that void, organizing as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, giving it the flexibility to lobby and support marriage initiatives across the nation.”

The gala is scheduled for July 2nd at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel.
