Scollo Inches Closer to Marino in Fundraising

10th district Democratic candidate Phil Scollo.

Phil Scollo has gained a bit of ground in fundraising against incumbent Congressman Tom Marino (R-Lycoming), but still faces a huge deficit in the GOP-friendly 10th district. The Democratic businessman raked in over $60,000 in the second quarter; Marino pulled in just under $100,000.

Marino has $302,000 on hand compared to just $35,000 for Scollo.

Announcing the numbers, Scollo called his lead in individual donations – he took in about $57,000 from individuals compared to around $47,000 for Marino –  a big step forward for his campaign.

“Our grassroots campaign is growing stronger every day, and it is powered by real, hard-working people,” said Scollo in a press release. “Those of us in the middle class want action on common sense solutions for good American jobs, education and schools, energy and other big priorities like fixing our deficit and national debt.”

While progress has been made for Scollo since the Q1 report, he still has a long way to go to catch up to Marino in overall contributions. His best hope is that Marino continues to raise at a less-than-impressive pace.
