With 94% of precincts reporting in, it appears that freshman Senator Tim Solobay (D-Washington) has lost his bid to stay in office to first-time candidate Camera Bartolotta of the GOP.
Bartolotta led Solobay by about 8%, 34,119 votes to 29,580.
Solobay was elected to the Senate in 2010 after serving 6 terms in the House. Bartolotta was a first-time candidate running for the GOP with previous credits in the film industry as both an actor and producer. Throughout his campaign, Solobay highlighted his other job as a firefighter to help keep constituents from seeing him as just another politician.
SD-46 encompasses the Southwestern corner of PA, including parts of Greene, Beaver and Washington counties. This is the second cycle in a row that the GOP made a serious push to capture this district.
