In his inaugural speech, Corbett acknowledged Pennsylvania’s high unemployment, increased government spending and a general mistrust of government as challenges facing his administration at its outset. He vowed to meet those challenges by doing “the right things, for the right reasons, even in the most challenging of times.”
Friends and colleagues say that underneath the veneer of the ruthless prosecutor lies a warm, straightforward man, one not quick to anger, and who despite achieving successes against great odds remains humble.
Governor Corbett called for a civil discourse in his Inaugural address, echoing the theme of civility that emerged in the aftermath of the tragedy in Arizona.
