National Popular Vote is endeavoring to take back the spotlight back from PA Sen. Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi’s Electoral College plan. They announced this week a 10-day advertising push in the Harrisburg media market consisting of full-page newspaper ads and a 60-second radio spot.
A Quinnipiac poll released this morning is a veritable grab bag of interesting tidbits. PA voters aren’t keen on the proposed changes to the electoral college; Obama’s PA disapproval is still above 50 percent, but he defeats all Republicans in head-to-head matchups; Bob Casey floating near the magic 50 percent number; and Perry is on the rise.
Santorum had another respectable straw poll finish, this time in Florida, and distanced himself from audience members who booed a gay soldier during last week’s debate.
While also reminding voters of his own dedication to repealing the law, Santorum praised Conner for his decision, releasing a statement saying that, “Judge Conner’s ruling is a victory for freedom, for American jobs and for the constitution.”
Rick Santorum, two-term senator turned quasi-presidential candidate, stopped by the upper house today after a Fox News interview. Reporters spotted him and got a dose of Perry-bashing (somewhat standard for the campaign these days) and his analysis of an idea, backed by Republican legislative leadership in Pennsylvania, to assign electoral votes to the winners of congressional districts.
Tom Corbett reiterated his support of Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi’s controversial changes to Pennsylvania’s electoral college on Saturday morning, but said he will, “keep an open mind.”
PA’s favorite son made good in the Republican State Committee’s presidential straw poll this evening, winning 36 percent of votes cast. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney came in second with 25 percent of the votes, followed by Texas Governor Rick Perry at 18 percent.
