It was announced this morning that former Governor Mark Schweiker is taking a position as Senior Advisor to the Government Affairs division of law firm Stradley Ronon. Needless to say, taking a high-profile position as a lobbyist does not seem like the move of someone planning a run for statewide public office.

Senator Bob Casey joined several Democrats calling for reform of the Senate procedure known as filibuster. In recent years, the practice has been used by Democrats and Republicans to effectively require a 60-vote majority for each step of the legislative process. Casey’s press release is below.

A Quinnipiac poll released this morning shows Senator Bob Casey with less-than-invincible numbers. Casey has a 39 – 29 percent job approval rating, a 43 – 35 percent lead over a generic Republican in 2012, and his ‘deserve re-elect’ at 40 – 33 percent.
