“Laughable, Ludicrous … Lie,” Says Perry Spokesperson

Scott Perry

During last night’s primetime hearing by the January 6 Select Committee, vice chair Liz Cheney alleged that congressman Scott Perry (R-York) was among “multiple” lawmakers that pursued presidential pardons in the aftermath of the attack on the U.S. Capitol.

“Representative Perry contacted the White House in the weeks after January 6th to seek a presidential pardon,” the Wyoming Republican said. “Multiple other Republican congressmen also sought presidential pardons for their roles in attempting to overturn the 2020 election.”

Perry spokesman Jay Ostrich denied that Perry sought a pardon from Trump.

“Laughable, ludicrous, and a thoroughly soulless lie,” Ostrich told The Hill.

During the hearing, Perry appeared on One America News and described the committee hearing as  “a three-ring circus” and “reality TV” that is only meant “to distract from what is actually happening to the country and what people are most concerned about.”

Perry will likely be a focus of the committee’s third hearing next Wednesday, which Cheney said will center on Trump’s efforts to replace leadership at the Justice Department.

  1. Perry is a self-appointed insurrectionist. A wing nut. He has tried to overturn legal PA election results in numerous ways. That makes him a traitor to democracy. He doesn’t deserve a pardon from the president or any of the voters in his district. He needs to be held accountable for his actions.

  2. After the action by Congress on Jan 6th and the early hours of the morning of Jan 7th, I told Scott Perry that while I disagreed with the action he took on the floor of the House, I respected his ability to legally do so. We can agree to disagree, I don’t always agree with Scott Perry, but I do have the utmost respect for him. He’s a little far right for me, but because I know him, believe he is trying to do his best for our country, I will continue to support him.

  3. The conduct and character of Scott Perry explains why the United States military hasn’t won a war in 75 years, settling instead for a vague series of draws with ragtag irregulars despite enormous taxpayer-provided resource advantages.

Too many low-character cowards, which also explains the war crimes, development of and reliance on mercenaries, torture, and other disgraces.

We need to find a way to attract a better class of person to law enforcement and the military. Better education, better temperament, better judgment, better character. Better training, better accountability, better oversight, too — but it starts with better people.

  4. Perry is not fit to serve in elective office. When when WHEN will Trump, Perry, Mastriano etc be held ACCOUNTABLE.???

  5. Cheney said today the Committee has Proof. I trust her word FAR more than this election-denying chucklehead. He – – and Masty – should have their military pensions taken away for Treason.

  6. What worries me is the lack of owning up to anything. People smeared feces on the walls of our church of democracy and right wing knuckleheads are saying the Jan 6 Committee is taking “extreme measures.” What these chuckleheads don’t get is that severely beating Capitol Police, storming the Capitol, smashing windows, busting up the Speakers office, breaking into the Senate and rumaging through desks is what is extreme. Because of Jan 6th some Capitol Hill Police Officers are no longer with us. Wake up OAN and stop playing games!

  7. Well, we will see if the committee has receipts, given that Cheney (who for the record thought was far more effective than Thompson last night) called him out specifically, I highly suspect they do.
