Senate Dems Announce 2021-22 Committee Chairs

On Friday, Senate Democratic Minority Leader Jay Costa announced the new minority chairs for the 2021-2022 session. 

“Our caucus is diverse in every way – from demographics to professional background, and the senators are uniquely qualified to tackle the breadth of issues that come through our standing committees and onto the Senate floor,” Costa said in a release. “I’m proud to announce this slate of chairs and committee members, and look forward to their collective work in this session.”

State Sens. Jim Brewster (D-Allegheny) and Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia) will chair multiple committees, while the four newly elected state Senators will also chair a committee. 

Here are the minority chairs below.

Aging & Youth: Maria Collett 

Agriculture & Rural Affairs: Judy Schwank 

Appropriations: Vincent Hughes 

Banking & Insurance: Sharif Street 

Communications & Technology: John Kane

Community, Economic & Recreational Development: Amanda Cappelletti 

Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure: Lisa Boscola 

Education: Lindsey Williams 

Environmental Resources & Energy: Carolyn Comitta 

Finance: John Blake 

Game & Fisheries: James Brewster 

Health & Human Services: Art Haywood 

Intergovernmental Operations: Anthony Williams 

Judiciary: Steve Santarsiero 

Labor & Industry: Christine Tartaglione 

Law & Justice: James Brewster 

Local Government: Tim Kearney 

Rules & Executive Nominations: Jay Costa 

State Government: Sharif Street 

Transportation: John Sabatina, Jr. 

Urban Affairs & Housing: Nikil Saval 

Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness: Katie Muth 

On Wednesday, the Senate Republicans announced the majority chairs for the upcoming session.
