Senator-Elect Pat Toomey Makes Key Hires to Senate Staff

Allentown – Senator-Elect Pat Toomey announced a number of key hires for his Washington D.C. Senate office, including a Chief of Staff, Communications Director, Director of Operations, and several Legislative Aides.

Joining Senator-Elect Toomey’s team as the Chief of Staff will be Christopher Gahan.

Mr. Gahan brings over a decade of Senate experience to Senator-Elect Toomey’s office, including two years as the Chief of Staff for retiring New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg.  Mr. Gahan first joined Senator Gregg’s staff in 1996 and has accumulated legislative and leadership experience on a range of issues, from financial services, to budgetary matters, to homeland security, to energy policy.  Today, he manages all of Senator Gregg’s office operations, and will join Senator-Elect Toomey’s office in the same capacity.

A native of Rye Beach, New Hampshire, Mr. Gahan received his bachelor’s degree from Brown University and his law degree from Harvard Law School.  In addition to his extensive legislative experience, Mr. Gahan also practiced law at Latham & Watkins, LLP, one of the largest law firms in the world.

Filling the role of Communications Director will be Nachama Soloveichik, the former Communications Director for the Toomey for Senate campaign.  Ms. Soloveichik has been working in the political communications field for five years, including a two year-stint as Communications Director for the limited-government group, the Club for Growth.  Originally from Chicago, Ms. Soloveichik has a bachelor’s degree from Yeshiva University and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago.

Laurel Edmondson will also be joining the D.C. staff as the Director of Operations.  She brings many years of experience on the Hill, including five years as the Office Manager for New Jersey Representative Scott Garrett and two years as the Director of Operations for retiring Ohio Senator George Voinovich.  Ms. Edmondson has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Samford University and a master’s in mental health counseling from Stetson University.

In addition, Senator-Elect Toomey has hired two lifelong Pennsylvanians, Rick Morgan and Mitch Vidovich, to join his legislative team as Legislative Aides.  Mr. Morgan grew up in Bethlehem, PA, graduated from Princeton University in 2009, and served as the Deputy Finance Director for the Toomey for Senate campaign.  Mr. Vidovich, a native of Aston, PA, graduated from Susquehanna University in 2008 and served as a campaign aide to the Senator-Elect for the Toomey for Senate campaign.

“I am very proud of the team we are assembling both in D.C. and in Pennsylvania,” Senator-Elect Toomey said.  “All of these new hires bring experience, a terrific work ethic, and a passion for the work they do.  There is much challenging work before us, but with such a committed and hardworking group of people around me, I know we can make real and constructive progress for Pennsylvania and our country.”
