A southeastern PA healthcare employees union endorsed Rob McCord for governor Thursday.

Henry Nicholas, President of District 1199c of the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees, an AFSCME affiliate, made the announcement.

“Rob has been highly allegiant to the human needs of seniors, the educational ambitions of our university attendees, and the quality of life aspirations from struggling, working class employees and their communities,” he said.

“At a time when Governor Corbett has encouraged bitter and disharmonious contention between the owners of companies and workers, State Treasurer McCord has shown a bright capacity to identify the positive, common aspirations of employers, the corporate investors, their workers, their neighbors, and local elected officials.”

The union has more than 23,000 members and retirees.

In 2009, Nicholas and District 1199c endorsed Jack Wagner for governor.
