‘The Supreme Court’s decision on a Texas abortion ban raises the stakes for the Pa. governor’s race’: Spotlight PA reports that “Pennsylvania abortion-rights advocates and their opponents agreed Wednesday that the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to let a Texas law banning most abortions go into effect could clear the way for a similar prohibition here if Republicans win the 2022 governor’s race.”

‘Now that Pa. has a school mask mandate, has the rancor subsided? It has not.’: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that “the order from Gov. Bob Casey said Wednesday that he supports President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, but an independent commission should be appointed to scrutinize America’s role there for 20 years and not just “the last 20 days.””

Fred Keller lauds spirit of hard work at Jersey Shore Steel plant’: The Williamsport Sun-Gazette reports that “the production line of Jersey Shore Steel is all about heating raw steel angles and fabricating them into products for market. U.S. Rep. Fred Keller, R-Kreamer, for one, came away impressed by the operation following a recent tour of the Avis plant.”

‘York City mayor wants more input on surveillance cameras’: The York Dispatch reports that “York City wants to hear from more of its citizens on a proposed $3.4 million surveillance network in the city. After the release of a report from consultant Montez Parker, who was hired by local nonprofit Better York, Mayor Michael Helfrich said he wants to hear from more citizens.”

‘Experimental program will provide $500 per month to 200 Pittsburgh residents’: The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that “a program that could be launched before the end of the year would give a $500 monthly payment to 200 low-income Pittsburgh residents for two years with no strings attached.”
