Sestak Ad Wins – Again

By Chris Bowman, Contributing Writer

Sestak’s “The Switch” ad, an opprobrium of Arlen Specter switching parties, has garnered numerous accolades during this season’s political media awards. A few weeks ago, it took home the “Toughest TV Ad” award from Campaigns and Elections Magazine. Last weekend, it captured the Pollie Award for “Best Use of Negative.”

It was the ad that many people credit for preventing Specter from being “re-elected.”

The Pollies are on their 20th year, and are often referred to as the “Oscars of political advertising.”

As pundits speculate the future of 2010 senate candidate Joe Sestak, experts agree that his attack against Arlen Specter was the preeminent negative ad of the 2010 cycle.

Sestak has recently returned to public forum with his comments on the situation in Libya. The formal admiral has been somewhat skeptical of the no-fly-zone, as seen in this video posted Saturday on the Sestak2010 YouTube page.

Recently questioned regarding his political future at a breakfast, Sestak responded that he would be returning to sea. However rather than taking on a naval vessel, he explained that his sea-faring would instead be on a Princess cruise with his daughter.

Here’s “The Switch,” for old-times’ sake.

  1. You are very foolish people. Sestak brewed trouble – as he ran his mouth without comprehension of the damage he could have done to the Obama Administration, then let Big Dawg take the blame for his rash whining. He is utterly unqualified, at this point in his political development, for the Senate. He was NEVER a Democrat until the opportunity to be handed a seat in Congress was presented. He readily tossed that seat aside without even giving the Party the heads up in time to groom his replacement. Some “Party Man.” Instead, Specter, who has been a Friend to Democrats for thirty years in the Senate, could have BEATEN Toomey again. Instead, he was treated with disrespect by folks like yourselves who aren’t thinking responsibly, just cheering on the “Hockey Brawler” with zero comprehension of the level of comportment expected of members of the United States Senate. You folks blew it and thanks to YOUR rash, petty ignorance, instead of a Senior Senator serving Pennsylvania, we have a powerless Rookie in the seat. Do you suppose the Admiral will challenge Casey next year? What is with him, anyway? He brings far less to the table as a Senator than he could have offered his COUNTRY advising the President in matters such as the current “No Fly Zone” preparation to which he could have meaningfully contributed.

  2. is it a negative ad when you show a cynical politician being his most repulsive self, using his own words to highlight his arrogance and unfitness to bear the Democratic standard?
