Shapiro Picks Up GOP Endorsement

Josh ShapiroJim Martin, a Republican District Attorney from Lehigh County has announced that he will be supporting Democratic nominee for Attorney General, Josh Shapiro.

“I know first-hand Josh’s dedication to delivering results for people instead of talking points,” Martin stated. “As a prosecutor and a Republican for over two decades, I’ve admired his no-nonsense, ethical leadership in Montgomery County and his close collaboration with law enforcement.”

Martin served on the executive committee of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association from 2000-2012 including serving as its President 2006-2007.

The endorsement of a Republican District Attorney is a nice coup for Shapiro, who will be battling State Senator John Rafferty.

Whoever wins in November will replace embattled PA Attorney General Kathleen Kane, who decided not to seek re-election.

  1. @wait,what?: Amen to that! Shapiro won’t even promise to refrain from running for higher office after his term as AG would be up. It’s a clearly calculated move.

  2. Rob Gleason needs to go! He is more interested in getting insurance contracts and enriching his bank account than electing conservatives.

  3. THe Republican Party is completely irrelevant in Pa. It simply can’t get a statewide candidate elected and this endorsement is exhibit A. They can’t even get their own elected officials to fall in line to take back the AG office from a blatantly unqualified, politically ambitious career pol. Sad.
