Even as Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s August 8th court date fast approaches, her top aides have been interviewing to fill an opening in her office, a notable candidate for which is the son of an opposing witness in Kane’s case.
According to Angela Couloumbis and Craig R. McCoy of the Inquirer, Matthew Peifer was interviewed on Monday by Kane’s Chief of Staff for a position in the office’s Child Predator Unit.
Peifer is the son of David Peifer, a former Kane aide who had agreed to work with prosecutors in exchange for immunity.
Jeff Johnson, a spokesman for Kane, claimed that neither Kane not David Peifer were involved in the hiring process of Matthew Peifer, and another spokesman said that Kane had not been aware that Matthew Peifer had applied for the position.
Kane is facing twelve charges, including two counts of perjury and ten misdemeanors.

Eakin and Fina are TOAST. Seth Williams’ career is on life support and he may be headed to Federal prison. I’d say Kane’s work is almost done; but the trial should claim some more victims.
The truth is that Kane was the victim of a smear campaign. It was led by the people she had the goods on. And it led to the current, trumped-up criminal charges against her.
The criminal case is bogus. The government’s star witness told two completely different stories. And the RAT will do or say anything to avoid responsibility. Was he involved in the set-up? We will see. The TRUTH comes out at trials.

Peifer (the undercover a/k/a rat we all thank) is still an employee of the AG s office. some of the deputy AG s like Beemer were also chief witnesses against Kane. so the AG employee team gets to go to court against their boss aug. 8, while the AG s office is contemplating hiring the kid of a chief witness against Kane who has hiring authority ? this is too weird or belief. so Peifer’s ‘s kid wants a job in the AG s office? Why not just let Peifer kid’s application languish for months or years, like the many other PA taxpayers and residents whose applications have ineptly been on hold for interminable amounts of time in our various overstuffed overpaid/ inept state bureaocracies?

I’m having a hard time following this story. Peiffer ( herein referred to as the rat) is a top trusted aide to Kane. He and another commit Crimes at the request (or not) for Kane. They get caught . It’s not because Peiffer has a guilty conscience. After being caught he agrees to be a rat. Said rat keeps his job as a top law enforcement in thie PA Attorney Generals Office. Why was he at least not fired with an agreement to testify? Then the rat tries to get his kid a job in the same Agency and in the same Unit that the rat is in charge of. Have we all lost our minds. It would seem to me a first year prosecutor out of law school could have made this case with just the footprints they were leaving when they were checking into an area of the mainframe that they weren’t supposed to have access too. This whole situation is nut.

The real question here is how did the reporters become advised of this interview? It just goes to show how many people in that office are out to get Kane and how badly the reporters are in bed with them. It’s really sad what has become of what passes for journalistic integrity these days. I wonder how the Inky will spin a not guilty verdict. Probably with a hearty endorsement for Josh Shapiro
Why would they reject his application? Lots of people apply for jobs and don’t get interviews. That makes zero sense.

There is no story here. Kane could have been sued for rejecting this application because of who the applicant’s father is.
The mans father is a witness for the prosecution. He was given immunity for agreeing to testify against Kane. In what reality is this a good idea. I am not saying the guy does not deserve a job but wait for the disposition of the case to be completed against Kane. How is this even a question in anyone’s mind?
