Statewide, Regional Fraternal Order of Police Endorse Meehan

Highlight Pat Meehan’s law enforcement record, fight against corruption

SPRINGFIELD, PA – Statewide and local law enforcement personnel from the Pennsylvania State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police and Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police officially announced their endorsement today of former U.S. Attorney and District Attorney Pat Meehan for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 7th District.

The Pennsylvania State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police represents more than 41,000 law enforcement officers and the Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police represents more than 1,000 members from 37 departments.

“Throughout his career as a prosecutor, Pat Meehan has been a friend and ally of our law enforcement personnel and he has a proven record of combating crime and corruption,” said Les Neri, President of the State FOP Lodge.  “His creation of innovative programs such as the Route 222 Corridor Anti-Gang Initiative, a regional identity theft task force, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force shows he recognizes the need to bring federal, state, and local law enforcement together to tackle some of the major challenges facing our communities.  We look forward to working with someone of Pat Meehan’s integrity and vision in Congress.”

“Pat Meehan is well known by our members here in Delaware County, dating back to his days as District Attorney,” said Joe Fitzgerald, President of the Delaware County FOP.   “Pat Meehan is a friend and supporter of our police officers.  He understands the challenges we face and has always shown he will stand up for what is right and do what is best for local residents.  We need Pat Meehan fighting for us down in Washington.”

“As a former U.S. Attorney and District Attorney, I have the utmost respect for our men and women in law enforcement, individuals who put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe,” said Pat Meehan.  “I am honored to have their support and look forward to working closely with our local and state police officers to ensure they have the tools and resources needed to do their jobs and protect local residents.  I understand the challenges they face on a daily basis and will fight for them in Washington, DC.”

The endorsement from the Pennsylvania FOP State Lodge and Delaware County FOP comes on the heels of endorsements earlier this month from the Chester County Fraternal Order of Police and the Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police.  With over 1,000 members, the Chester County Fraternal Order of Police is the largest association of law enforcement personnel in Chester County.   The Montgomery County FOP represents more than 1,400 former and current law enforcement personnel.
