The Republican Committee of Allegheny County has selected its nominees for special elections in the three state House Districts that currently lack a representative.

The committee tabbed Clay Walker in the 32nd, Robert Pagane in the 34th and Don Nevills in the 35th District.

Walker, a pastor from Verona, is an Army veteran and has served as a customer service representative for a major health organization. He heads The Mustard Seed Church which is described on the Facebook page as an independent, non-denominational church that operates with a Pentecostal influence. Walker ran a write-in campaign for the 32nd District seat in the general election. He will meet Democrat Joe McAndrew in the special election to replace the late Tony DeLuca.

Pagane, a former law enforcement officer from Wilkins, is currently a kickboxing instructor. He served in the Baldwin Borough police department for 20 years, including 13 as a K-9 handler. Pagane will contend for the seat vacated by the resignation of Summer Lee, who will assume the 12th Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He will meet Democrat Abigail Salisbury in the special election.

Nevills, a small-business owner from Clairton, was the GOP nominee in the fall but was defeated by Austin Davis, who resigned the seat to assume the role as Pennsylvania’s lieutenant governor. A Navy veteran, he recently left his position as a member of the board of directors for the Clairton Municipal Authority to focus on running for the state House. Nevills will meet Democrat Matt Gergley in the 35h District special election,

The Pennsylvania Department of State is moving ahead with plans to hold the three special elections on Tuesday, February 7, although the House Republicans have filed lawsuits in an attempt to prevent them from being held on that date.
